Video guide to utilise your next business conference
Event as a content machine
Business conference or summit, whatever type of business event you organise, is a great occasion to produce content to promote your brand or a business online for months. Honestly I am stunned how underused this opportunity is. Literally you already have all the content as a part of your conference anyway. You need only capture it, preferably as a quality audio and video, and then repurpose it to variety digital formats.
Of course, you might not be willing to give away all your presentations and knowledge for free, especially if your business model relies on paid events. In this case business however conferences are a great way to produce months of short-form videos, you can later use to promote your next event or services.
Do not produce just one video
What I usually see is that event organizers produce just one video or no video at all. It is a missed opportunity.
- Don’t prepare just one short corporate video. Capture as much content as possible.
- Film most presentations, talks, discussion panels and awards ceremonies.
- Ask attendees questions.
I get it, this is an additional cost but if you already paid for a videographer, any extra work probably can be discounted. So if you hire a professional videographer, who can record high quality audio, utilize his presence, equipment and expertise.
Quality audio
The key here is capturing high quality audio along with quality video. Audio is one of the most important elements if you would like to fully harvest content from your event.
Depending on the conference room and sound system used, capturing quality audio might be challenging. However, a professional videographer can find a solution if everything is planned in advance.
Quality audio can be captured and recorded directly from the sound system, eg, audio mixer using professional connections (usually XLR). If this is not possible there are a couple of alternative options like sound recorders attached to the handheld microphone itself.
Interviews and testimonials
There is only one chance to have so many people gathered in one place. What is even more important is that they are likely to be your clients, potential clients, industry leaders or important figures within a business community. Use this opportunity efficiently!
- Ask attendees questions related to their business, their challenges and how they feel about your event. Create video interviews with guests and speakers.
- Business events are also great occasions to capture video testimonials from your clients. Video testimonials, especially testimonials recorded in a unique location or during the event, are still very difficult to fake.
Short-form video content
Short-form videos rule social media. This includes B2B.
In 2024 LinkedIn jumped into the short-form bandwagon by introducing a designed video tab on its mobile app. This solidifies the trend of more serious, short-form content already flourishing on TikTok and YouTube Shorts. Video tab was revoked in 2025 but video content on LinkedIn, and on other social media platforms is more important than ever.
What is the most efficient way to produce short-form videos? Repurpose presentations, speeches and discussion panels from your business conference into short pieces! That way, you probably already have months of short-form content.
At the moment, an online audience has to be exposed to brand content many times before they finally decide to purchase a product or use a service. The only way to use marketing content effectively, engage an online audience and grow social media is to produce new videos consistently.
Long-form videos
Short-form videos are great to capture attention however long-form videos are more memorable. Long-form videos create deeper emotional connection, and increase chances for conversion.
How to utilize long-form videos from your business even? The key here is quality audio captured along with video so let your videographer know beforehand.
- Identify presentations on subjects that will attract your potential clients.
- Upload a full video presentation edited with slides or with 2 camera angles to YouTube. Optimise title and description for popular and related keywords. Add a website or other call to action in your video and especially in your video description.
- Other best platforms to place longer videos include LinkedIn, websites, landing pages, and email newsletters.
- Give presenters edited videos with your branding for their own use. They will be promoting themselves and your businesses at the same time, sharing the content with their audience.
Written content from video
Filming your conference together with capturing professional audio will not only help you to create video content. Video content is a great starting point to create written content that you can use on your website, blog, newsletters or as a LinkedIn article. You can even use video from your presentations to create strategies and business plans.
If you have already invested in a videographer and video editor, simply ask them for a transcript. Quick transcription is a common feature now in most editing software, so this should not be a problem. PS: transcription might need some additional work and fixing before you can repurpose it. Then use Chat GPT or any other AI model to create articles, posts and other text-based content. Of course, treat AI-generated text as a starting point, not a final version!
